For Mayor: I endorse Mayor Francis Slay for Re-Election in the upcoming Democratic Primary. I believe the City of St. Louis has made unprecedented progress during the tenure of Mayor Slay. The vast
amount of development that has occurred in our city: Downtown, North, South and in the Central Corridor, is unprecedented and unequaled. The City's hemorrhaging population has abated under Mayor Slay and has begun to rise again.
All of this has been accomplished under a Republican administration in Washington that has only decreased block grants and funding for urban issues. Now, despite the economic uncertainty this country faces, I am excited to see what Mayor Slay can accomplish with a Democratic Congress and Presidency that understands the problems our urban areas face.
For Comptroller: I endorse Darelene Green for Re-Election. Darlene has been the Comptroller for the City and has been a solid fiscal voice for the City of St. Louis. Despite our Nation's economic crisis, where many cities now are facing impossible defecits, the City of St. Louis is in a reasonably manageable fiscal situation due to her sound management.
For Alderma
n: I endorse Jennifer Florida for Re-Election. Jennifer is running for her thrid term as 15th Ward Alderman. Jennifer is a responsive and pro-active alderman who sets the example for how the position of alderman should be filled. Her energy and enthusiasm for St. Louis and the 15th Ward is without limit. If all the Alderman in St. Louis had Jennifer's attitude, I have no doubt that St. Louis would be a much better place.
