The 4th Senatorial District

0
As many of you know State Senator Jeff Smith has resigned.  While Senator Smith's actions have been disappointing, I feel that we cannot deny the impact he has had in moving forward a progressive agenda here in Missouri.  Jeff was a true to form progressive and he was one of the strongest advocates for St. Louis in the Missouri legislature.

Governor Jay Nixon has called a special election for November 3rd, 2009 to replace him.  The Democrat who runs in that election is selected by the Democratic Committeemen and Committeewomen who represent the 4th Senatorial district.  Our votes are weighed by the amount of precincts each ward has within the boundaries of the 4th Senatorial District and receive one vote for every thousand votes cast for the Democratic candidate in the last Gubernatorial Election in each precinct.  Not all of the 15th Ward is located in 4th Senatorial District.  If you reside in the 6th precinct of the 15th ward you are represented by Sen. Robin wright-Jones of the 5th district.

What all of this means is that myself and your Committeewoman Jan Clinite will each have four votes out of 134 in the process to pick the Democratic Nominee in the upcoming special election.  I welcome all input from the residents of the 15th Ward.  This is a process that will happen quickly and I want to make an informed decision with your input.  Feel free to contact me at greggchristian2008@gmail.com
